Our Story
How it started
A search for a better way to shave led our founder, Dr. William Basztyk, to research and develop new and improved methods for shaving. Starting with a change to shaving soaps he tried different gels and creams. Finally, he tried some shaving oils and discovered that they gave a much smoother and more comfortable shave. He bagan to experiment with new blends until he came up with the current Ergo Shave Oil. After using it for several years he started sharing it with friends who were impressed with this new method of shaving. The oil has been registered as a cosmetic product with Health Canada and is now available on the market. Dr. Basztyk then went on to develop an ergonomic razor handle that was much easier to control thus reducing the chance of nicks and cuts. This has been awarded design patents in Canada and the US. Finally the Mini Strop was developed as a means of extending the life of disposable blade cartridges by cleaning and truing the blades much like the barber's stop of old. Thus the Ergo Shave System was born.
Dr. William Basztyk, PhD, mba
Dr. William Basztyk is the inventor and creator of the Ergo Shave system. In addition to his PhD and MBA in Business Administration he is a Chartered Biologist wth the Royal Society of Biology and a Chartered Chemist with the Royal Society of Chemistry as well as being a Fellow of both societies. He holds Fellowships and Memberships in other Chemical, marketing and business organizations along with a diploma in Esthetics. He has been active in the field of personal care products for many years and has lectured and written extensively.
